Kelun publishes its editorial methodology in full. This page describes how content is sourced, evaluated, and verified before appearing in the journal — so readers can assess the basis of every position taken.
Each piece of content published by Kelun moves through a fixed sequence of review stages before reaching the archive. The sequence does not change based on topic sensitivity or publication urgency — every entry is subject to the same standard.
The process was formalised in 2021 following an initial period of informal documentation. It draws on practices common to independent science journalism, with specific adaptations for the Indonesian wellness and nutrition landscape.
PROCESS REF: KLN-ED-01 — Revision 03, archived April 2024. Applied to all content categories: nutrition, movement, grooming, sleep, stress management, outdoor fitness.
Contributors identify relevant published nutritional and exercise science research through indexed databases and qualified wellness publications. Sources are logged with full citation data before any writing begins.
Each source is assessed for study design, sample size, methodology transparency, and publication standing. Kelun distinguishes between preliminary findings, replicated studies, and consensus-supported positions in its editorial.
The contributing writer produces a draft that accurately reflects the sourced research without overstating findings, applying urgency language, or implying outcomes that the underlying evidence does not support.
A second contributor, not involved in the original draft, cross-references every factual claim against the logged source material. Discrepancies are flagged and resolved before editorial review proceeds.
Content is reviewed for relevance to the Indonesian context: tropical climate considerations, local food ingredient availability, urban commute impact on energy expenditure, and cultural frameworks around rest and physical activity.
The founding editor provides final review. The piece is assigned an archive reference code, dated, and published to the Kelun journal. Source citations are retained internally for traceability.
Peer-reviewed publications — articles indexed in recognised nutrition, exercise science, and public health databases. Priority is given to replicated findings over single-study conclusions.
Qualified wellness publications — established editorial outlets with named author credentials, conflict-of-interest disclosures, and documented fact-checking processes.
Published nutritional guidelines — national and international nutritional guidance from qualified bodies, used as context and baseline reference rather than absolute instruction.
Qualified contributor experience — first-person observations from the Kelun contributor network, clearly identified as such and not conflated with research findings.
Brand-funded research — studies where the commissioning entity has a direct commercial interest in the reported outcome are excluded or explicitly flagged when referenced.
Unverified testimonial content — personal accounts of physical change, whether positive or negative, are not accepted as editorial evidence.
Social media claims — content from influencer channels, brand accounts, or unattributed sources on social platforms is not used as supporting evidence.
Pre-publication or retracted studies — findings not yet published in peer-reviewed form, or studies that have been retracted following publication, are not cited.

Ingredient profiles referenced in Kelun's nutritional content are selected based on published nutritional research and undergo independent batch verification for quality and labelling accuracy.
